Why so many music videos in my Facebook page?
By Tele Figueroa

Some of you may have noticed, and perhaps wondered, during the lastweeks why today, I posted so many videos of classical music, semi-classical pieces, refined popular music, and even a few jokes.
The answer is simple: I needed to remind myself that there is still hope.
Hope for good music, good writing, and quality performances in a world that often seems to be moving in the opposite direction.

I don’t want to appear, or pretend, to be some kind of “Saint Teleforo.” Far from it.
But when faced with the vulgarity, coarseness, and tastelessness that some theatrical presentations have sunk into, and considering the political climate that at times makes us look like a third-world country, I feel I have no choice but to express myself…whether people like it or not.

I write, of course, about what is happening in our island.
As for politics, I won’t touch that subject not even with a long stick, but I must admit that what’s going on contributes to the larger problem we’re all witnessing.

I want to make it clear that my upcoming article will be a respectful critique, free of offensive language.
I firmly believe in freedom of expression, even knowing that some may disagree with my opinion.
Anyone is welcome to respond and offer their own point of view, and I’ll gladly listen, as long as the tone remains as respectful and sober as the one I intend to use.

I don’t think I’m asking for much.

The article will be published on my Facebook page in the next few days
